Films and serial killers

Film rights to James Sallis's six Lew Griffin crime novels (Long-Legged Fly, Moth, Black Hornet, Eye Of The Cricket, Bluebottle, Ghost Of A Flea) featuring an African American private eye in New Orleans, have been sold to producer J.P. Williams, whose credits include Larry the Cable Guy, in a six-figure buyout of the entire franchise, for a series of modestly budgeted features.

Jonathan Lethem has optioned writer-director Greg Marcks to make a film of his novel, You Don't Love Me Yet. Marcks’ film 11:14 brought in some rave reviews, and as per Lethem's announced contingencies about ancillary rights, he made the grade. Read what the free option and ancillary rights were all about.

Riding high on the success of Shadow Man and hopefully for the forthcoming The Face of Death, UK rights to Cody McFadyen's two new Smoky Barrett thrillers have been picked up by Nick Sayers at Hodder. In the latest book, Smoky faces another serial killer who wipes out the family of another woman.
